Again this year, Brandon UMC is participating in Operation Christmas Child.
Operation Christmas Child (Operation Christmas Child | Shoebox Outreach of Samaritan’s Purse) is a part of Samaritan’s Purse (https://www.samaritanspurse.org), a Humanitarian Aid organization providing relief efforts all over the world. The gift-filled shoeboxes are shipped to children in need all over the world, spreading the gospel of Jesus.
A packing guide is included in each shoebox listing what is, and is not allowed to be packed. You can determine if you want to pack a shoebox for a girl or boy, and their age group. A donation of $10 is suggested for each shoebox (but not mandatory!). You can either place the $10 inside your shoebox, or, use an online option on the Label. By doing so, you can ‘Follow Your Box’ and discover the destination of your gift. Once your shoebox is filled, attach the label, secure with a rubber band and return it to the church by Sunday, Nov 23. We’ll take care of it from there!
When a child receives a shoebox, they are invited to participate in The Greatest Journey. This is a 12-lesson discipleship course designed for Operation Christmas Child shoebox recipients. Children who participate in the program learn how to follow Christ and share Him with others. As they do, entire families and communities are transformed by the power of the Gospel, and churches are started. Please visit the Operation Christmas Child website to see the joy of children receiving shoeboxes! The excitement is unreal! Knowing that YOUR shoebox gave a child the opportunity to know Jesus!
